Nasarawa State Government to Build NIPR University

The Nasarawa State government says plans are underway to build the state of the art Nigeria Institute of Public Relations, NIPR University in the state.

Governor Abdullahi Sule made the disclosure when he received a delegation from Voice of Nigeria, VON led by the Director-General, at the government house in Lafia the state capital.

The Governor said the University will train public relations workforce that can counter misinformation, protect democracy and manage security effectively.

“It will develop journalist and communicators by creating a pool of skilled public relations talent that supports economic growth and foreign investment,” Governor Sule said.

Speaking on his achievements, Sule attributed his successes across the state to team work, disclosing how he relates very well with staff and close associates.

Everything that I am taking credit for in Nasarawa State today is due to teamwork. I have a very strong team in the state and the team is assisting me, working with me, cooperating with me, very loyal to me and that’s the reason why we have been able to work together to get to where we are,” he said.

Goveenor Sule described how he engage citizens before commencing certain projects which has direct impact on the people.

He cited the Mararraba area where hoodlums used to reside which he transformed to a better place as people’s oriented project.

The Governor appreciated VON delegates for the visit to his state, particularly the Director General whom he described as rising through the ranks to achieve this great feat.

He assured the DG of his support towards building good relationship between his administration and VON.

The Director General, Voice of Nigeria, Jibrin Baba Ndace, lauded the state government’s plan to build the NIPR University, emphasisng that, the Governor acknowledges the importance of public relations in every sector of the society.

He commended Governor Sule for the visible achievement recorded in the state, stressing on how residents have enjoyed from the dividends of democracy.

For you to seize the moment, it shows your capacity to understand how important it is for leaders to look beyond the moment and invest in programs and policies that will define them in the future,” VON DG said.

The University of Public Relations and Leadership is the first of its kind in the world, not just in Africa when built by the state government.
