Residents of the Ekye development Area in Doma Local Government Council of Nasarawa State were all in jubilations as Governor Abdullahi Sule flagged off the construction of 24 kilometres Idadu-Agbashi road worth N3.2 billion.
Speaking after the flagging off ceremony, a resident Mr Paul Indeh expressed his appreciation to Governor Abdullahi Sule for coming to their aid and rescuing them from the hardship of Idadu/Agbashi road where many lives were lost due to the bad shape of the road.
“Governor Abdullahi Sule has fulfilled his promise made to us the people of Ekye by bringing this great development of road construction here in Idadu/ Agbashi road. We shall reciprocate this gesture soon,” indeh said.
Governor Sule said during the flagging off of the road disclosed that the project was awarded to Road and Bridge International Nigeria Limited.
According to him, “I had already saved money enough for the construction of the road before the contract was awarded
“I promised to construct this road during the 2019 electioneering campaign, thank God, I’m fulfilling my promise,”
He further said that once the road is constructed, one of the serious challenges facing the people of the area would be addressed.
“By the grace of God, the project would be completed in high quality in the next 12 months,” Sule added.
He also promised to provide security to the company constructing the road to ensure timely completion based on specifications.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Managing Director of the company handling the project, Mr. Wang Zengxiang, expressed gratitude to the governor for allowing them to impact the lives of the people of the area and the state.
Mr. Zengxiang promised that the company would deliver quality jobs within 12 months as agreed.
He, however, appealed to the state government to provide them with adequate security to carry out their assignment without fear.
Mr. Zengxiang also appealed to the authority of Doma LGA, traditional rulers, and other stakeholders as well as the people of the area to corporate with them to enable them to succeed.
