The Nasarawa State Government has urged the Nigerian Army to maintain its high-level security operations nationwide, emphasising that a secure nation is essential for national development and lasting unity
At the 2024 annual West African Social Activities, WASA, held at the 4 Special Forces Command in Doma Local Government Area, Nasarawa State, Governor Abdullahi Sule described the Nigerian Army as the nation’s hope.
Represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr Emmanuel Akabe, the Governor explained that “there is a need for the Army to continue to stay focused and resilient in the discharge of their duties.”
He said; “In recognition of your patriotic service, let me re-echo the commitment of this administration towards making Nasarawa State free of any form of security treatment.
“I wish to applaud you for your hard work and resilience urging you to sustain the Tempo for peaceful and harmonious coexistence among the diverse ethnic nationality in the state and the country at large.”
Governor Sule, however, commended the efforts of the six soldiers who received various awards for distinguishing themselves in their duties during the year under review and urged them to remain dedicated to hard work at all times.
The Governor further urged them to double their efforts in 2025 to surpass more achievements to uphold the glory of the Nigerian Army.
Also speaking, the Commander 4 Special Forces Command, Major General, Hillary Nzan said that “WASA has become an annual event celebrated all over the Nigerian Army formations and units across the country.”
He appreciated the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede for releasing funds to the 4 Special Forces Command to celebrate its end-of-year WASA for a well-motivated force that can effectively discharge its constitutional responsibilities with a joint multi-agency environment.
General Nzan promised that this edition would be very exciting and memorable as It would feature colourful and entertaining dances, displays and, of course, local dishes from different parts of the country and a lot more.
Highlights of the event were the cultural dance by different ethnic groups, tug of war, different Army displays and drills, as well as the presentation of awards to deserving soldiers and burning fire.
