The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists NAWOJ Nasarawa State chapter has condemned in strong terms the alleged defilement and impregnation of a 15-year-old girl by her uncle.
This is contained in a statement signed by state Chairman of NAWOJ, Hajiya Hadiza Umar, and made available to journalists in Lafia, the state capital.
The NAWOJ Chairman said it is evil, barbaric and inhuman for a man to defile a girl he is supposed to protect.
Hajiya Hadiza Umar called for the prosecution of the said culprit to serve as a deterrent to others.
“We will follow keenly and report proceedings of the court sessions until the culprit is prosecuted,” she noted.
The Nasarawa State NAWOJ Chairman said as women of the pen profession they would continue to project and project all issues that concern women and children in the state.
