The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Nasarawa State has directed its supporters to restrict their celebration over their recent victory at the tribunal to party offices in the state capital and respective Local Government Areas, LGAs.
State PDP Chairman, Mr Francis Orogu, stated this while addressing journalists shortly after the State Working Committee meeting of the party in Lafia, the state capital.
It would be recalled that the Governorship Elections Petition Tribunal sitting in Lafia in a split judgment on Oct. 2, annulled the election of Governor Abdullahi Sule and announced Mr David Ombugadu as the real winner of the March 18 election in the state.
Orogu explained that the decision became imperative to avoid confrontation and crisis because the party was known for peace and they would sustain it in the overall interest of the state.
“We are law-abiding and our supporters are also law-abiding, so anybody causing problems in the guise of celebrating the victory of the judgment is not our member or supporter.
“The police should arrest those causing problems or trying to cause any problem in the state as well as those making inciting statements in social media,” the PDP chairman noted.
He said that they have uncovered plans by some people to disguise themselves as PDP supporters just to cause problems.
He called on the security agencies to arrest anybody under whatever guise breaking law and order in the state.
The leader of PDP in the state stated that the victory at the tribunal was a victory for the entire masses because at last God came to their rescue.
He explained that God who had helped them at the tribunal would complete his work by helping them at the appeal court and supreme court.
“Our candidate is coming to build and develop and not to destroy as some are insinuating just to get sympathy.
“So, all rumor about the plan by our party to dethrone some traditional rulers in the state is taken the news, as nobody has such a plan”,
“The traditional rulers are our fathers, and they should treat all of us as their children without any discrimination,” Orogu said.
He also advised traditional rulers not to allow themselves to be used by politicians for political gains.
