Nasarawa State Government says it would provide slots for automatic employment in the civil service for people with special needs to cater for their well-being.

Governor Abdullahi Sule stated this during a one-day awareness campaign on the negative effects of stigmatization on youth with disabilities held in Lafia, the state capital.

He said the state government had also included people with disabilities in health insurance schemes, training, and retraining as well as special allocation among other benefits.

The governor, represented by the state commissioner for women’s affairs, Aisha Rufai maintained that the state governments would continue to provide a platform for people with disabilities to feel a sense of belonging.

My administration would not hesitate in providing free education to their children as well as fighting any form of stigmatization for the people living with disabilities in the state.”

The convener of the program and personal Assistant to the Governor on Disability matters, Umar Dahiru-Mua’zu said the experiences and insights of PWDs could greatly contribute to the development and implementation of policies that address the specific needs and challenges faced by the community.

He said that Governor Abdullahi Sule’s Administration has brought ease in so many areas for PWDs in the state.

Speaking, the Emir of Lafia, His Royal Highness, Justice Sidi Bage said it is an unfortunate reality that persons with disabilities in our society often face significant barriers to accessing basic rights and opportunities.

He cautioned the society to avoid the stigmatization of the PWDs or if caught, would face the wrath of the Law.
