No fewer than one thousand indigenous of the Nasarawa North zone have benefited from a free medical outreach on eye care services, organized by the Islamic Society of Eggonland (ISE).

The general secretary, of the Islamic Society of England, Alhaji Umar Abdullahi-Galle stated this during an interview with journalists at the end of the program in the general hospital Nasarawa Eggon Local government area of the state.
He said the economic situation in the country was among the many reasons for organizing this free medical outreach.
“The high demand we receive from people because, after our last exercise, we received a lot of calls and think this is the right time to respond to the people’s demand”, he said.
“The exercises were planned in three stages, Screening, surgery, and mop-up”.
The general secretary said major activities were the distribution of reading glasses, administrating of drugs to people in need, referrals, and surgery were all carried out to people.
“We targeted 500 persons for the reading glasses, but about four hundred and three persons have collected their reading glasses and we have 55 beneficiaries that received the free eye surgery of cataracts”.
Alhaji Abdullahi-Galle further appreciates the state government for the support given to ISE in carrying out the program successfully.
Also speaking, the Lead surgeon, and consultant Ophthalmologist, Dr. Murtala Muhammad, appreciates the beneficiaries for allowing them to serve them well.
He urged the surgery beneficiaries to adhere to the rules given to them after the surgery for quick healing.
“We came with five hundred reading, glasses to correct near, there are millions of people who have the problem of near without an aid, Once one is forty unless he has refractive error, he/she will need reading glasses”, Dr. noted.
A beneficiary, Mr. Abimiku Samuel commanded the Islamic Society of Eggonland and the Doctors for this wonderful gesture and prayed for it to be sustained.
