As part of efforts to strengthen civil service in Nasarawa state, the government has reaffirmed its commitment to implementing policies
The Head of Civil Service, Abigail Waya, stated this while addressing delegates at the 2025 Seventh Quadrennial Delegates Conference of Nigeria Civil Service Union, in Lafia the Nasarawa State capital.
She said the state government has worked out modalities to ensure civil servants enjoy uninterrupted promotion benefits, minimum wage and capacity development opportunities as part of demonstrating its commitment to their well-being.
Declaring the event open, Head of Service, Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Establishment and Manpower Development, in the office of the Head of Service, Mrs Belinda Oyigbenu, challenged civil servants to maintain a high level of integrity, avoid social vices and be committed to their duties.
Also speaking, National President of the Nigeria Civil Service Union, Comrade Sunday Oluwole Adeleye, represented by the Vice President North Central and Nasarawa State Auditor General, Comrade Yusuf Sarki Iya, commended the present administration for prioritizing the welfare of workers.
Chairperson of the Nigeria Civil Service Union, Nasarawa State Council, Comrade Felix Baba Ibi, highlighted the Union’s significant achievements under his leadership including recovery of land belonging to the union, fostering a sense of solidarity and cooperation with other unions and maintaining a cordial relationship with the state government.
Chairman Nigeria Labour Congress, Nasarawa State Council, Comrade Ayuba Isma’il Oko, represented by the Secretary Comrade Ahmed Mohamed Naibi and Chairperson federal Council of Civil Service Union who spoke on behalf of Nigerian Civil Service Union, North Central, Comrade Aduga Aruwa, called for unity amongst members of the union to enable them to succeed.
At the delegates conference,the incumbent Chairperson of Nigeria Civil Service Union, Nasarawa State Council,Comrade Felix Baba Ibi, the Vice Chairpersons, Umar Shalele and Hauwa Abdulkarim, Queen Chukwumezie Secretary, Comrade Rayyanu Giza Auditor and Comrade Rosemary Agbo Trustee were returned unopposed.
Meanwhile the position of Treasurer and Assistant Secretary were contested for, with Comrades Ibrahim Isa and Emmanuel Paul Aloko emerging winners.
Highlights of the seventh quadrennial delegates conference was the inauguration of the new executive members to pilot the affairs of the union for the next four years.
