With political campaigns at their climax, the Tiv people in Nasarawa state have expressed their unalloyed support for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), pledging to vote for all APC candidates in the forthcoming general elections.

Mr. Peter Igbacher, the Special Assistant to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Political Affairs, disclosed this when he led the Tiv people of Lafia North Constituency to endorse the candidature of Hon. Mohammed Alkali, member representing Lafia North constituency at the State Legislature.

The Special Assistant said that they have decided to endorse Hon. Alkali and all APC candidates at all levels due to the developmental strides of President Muhammadu Buhari and Gov. Abdullahi Sule.

“We are here to tell the world that we, the Tiv people, have resolved to cast our votes for Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Gov. Abdullahi Sule, Hon. Ibrahim Alkali and all APC candidates at all levels; that is our position,” he said.

Igbacher said that the conferment of Hon Alkali as the “Tsar U Tiv”, meaning the “Bridge of the Tiv people of Lafia North” symbolizes the endorsement of the ruling All Progressives Congress ahead of the polls.
He appreciated the benevolence of Mohammed Alkali towards the Tiv people of Lafia North Constituency while assuring Hon. Alkali of their support beyond 2023.
Responding, a member representing Lafia North Constituency, Hon. Mohammed Alkali, who was dressed in A’nger, the Tiv’s most cherished cultural regalia, commended the people for endorsing his candidature and APC, promising to continue his good works to the Tiv people and other people of his constituency.
Hon. Alkali, the deputy Chief Whip of the House, and chairman, House Committee on Local Government, said that the ruling All Progressives Congress has done well from the national to the state levels.
I want to call on you and other Nigerians to vote for Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, our APC presidential candidate; His Excellency, Gov. Abdullahi Sule; Sen. Tanko Al-Makura; and other candidates of the party.

“This is for the progress and development of Lafia North constituency, the state, and the country at large beyond 2023,” he said.
Hon. Alkali and the chairman of the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs also promised to provide effective and sound representation, if voted for another term.
Since Hon. Alkali’s victory at the Court of Appeal, various political groups and social and cultural organizations have been paying him homage, with the latest being the Tiv people of Lafia North Constituency where he was turbaned as the “Tsar U Tiv”, meaning the “Bridge of the Tiv people of Lafia North”.

It would be recalled that Hon. Alkali also recently received the representatives of the Fulani community of the Lafia North Development Area.
