Nasarawa State to Pass Proposed Amended Bill Into Law

The Speaker of Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Balarabe Abdullahi says that the proposed N8.3billion 2022 amended bill sent to the House by Gov. Abdullahi Sule would accelerate growth and development across the State.

 

The Speaker stated this after the House deliberated and adopted the report of the House Standing Committee on Finance and Appropriation on a bill for a Law to authorise the Issue Out of the Consolidated Revenue Fund of The State (2022 Amended Appropriation) of the sum of N110, 849, 945, 879.49 only for the services of Nasarawa State Government to complement for the Period commencing from 1st January 2022 and Ending 31st, December 2022.

 

The Speaker said that the bill if passed into law would not only promote development but would also improve the standard of living of the people of the State.

 

Abdullahi said that the 2022 amended appropriation was necessary to adjust and re-align some items in the budget that have not been used or utilised owing to the inflow and outflow of incomes and expenditures.

 

“N8, 367, 625,997.5k only is the total adjustment within the 2022 budget.

 

“I, therefore, slate tomorrow, Tuesday, November 8, 2022, for the third reading of the bill,” he said.

 

The Speaker appreciated the committee and other members for giving adequate attention to the bill.

 

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Committee, Hon Aliyu Mohammed, while presenting the report appreciated the Speaker for his support to ensure that the adjusted budget report is presented within the shortest possible time.

 

” The proposed adjusted budget for the year 2022 was transmitted to this House by His Excellency, Gov. Abdullahi Sule, and s committed to this committee to work on the bill and report back to the House, that is why we are submitting the bill today.

 

“N8, 367, 625,997.5k only was the total sum  adjusted within the 2022 budget as shown below: Recurrent Expenditure- the below amount were away to these this sub-personnel cost- N717, 707,382.12 and other recurrent cost-N7, 649, 918, 614.95 total N8, 367,625,996.24

 

“Capital Expenditure- N8, 367,625,996.24 were deducted and transferred recurrent expenditure

 

” Based on the above analysis, the total size of the recurrent expenditure after adjustment stands at N80,288, 638, 455.50

 

“Whereas the total size of the capital expenditure will be N30, 561, 316, 423.87.

 

“Accordingly, the total budget size for 2022 before and after adjustment remains as passed by this Honourable House,” he said.

 

Hon Tanko Tunga, the Majority Leader of the House moved a motion for the adoption of the report which was seconded by the Deputy Chief Whip of the House, Hon Mohammed Ibrahim Alkali.
