Nasarawa State uncovers new internally displaced Camps

The Nasarawa state government says it has discovered Internally Displaced Persons who have been in camps for over seven years in the Karu local government area of the state.

 

The Executive Secretary of Nasarawa State Emergency Management Agency NASEMA, Mr. Zachary Allumaga, stated this while briefing journalists in Lafia the state capital.

 

The briefing according to Mr. Allumaga, was on the agency’s preparations to commence the distribution of relief materials to vulnerable groups in the state.

 

Allumaga expresses dismay over the lack of information to the Agency on the existence of the IDP in Karu for over seven years.

 

He appreciates President Muhammadu Buhari, for the support given to flood victims and the vulnerable in society.

 

The Executive Secretary further appreciates the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi Sule for his passion for the vulnerable.

“In IDP camps like this one, some NGOs have built schools for the children, and the IDP people have vast land for farming which they are yielding very well so far”, Allumaga said.

 

He however urged stakeholders, especially elected and political appointees at all levels to be available at their various areas when the distribution of the items would commence.
