National Assembly workers promise to be more efficient in legislative duties
Gloria Essien, Abuja
The National Assembly Staff say the three days of intensive training on Management skills have made them more efficient.
They say the training has widened their scope and enlightened them more about the workings of the National Assembly.
According to them, in the last three days, they have learnt more about the scope of the assembly.
Mr. Musa Jibril of the Management Services Department, said the training was an opportunity to improve on their knowledge and broaden their scope on legislative drafting.
He said; “What I have learnt here is very numerous. First of all, I learnt the technical know-how on how to carry out oversight functions and how to be part of a staff that can contribute when a bill is going for an asset from the presentation, consideration to the conference committee concurrence. We are novice in these aspects but now we have been enlightened.”
Other staff who spoke to Voice of Nigeria, commended the leadership of the National Assembly for the opportunity given to them.h
The Clerk of the National Assembly, Mr. Ibrahim Yahaya, said that the training was a way of boosting the morale of the staff.
He said; “We have already made a promise that this is the first in the series of training we are going to do for our staff. This one is general training. It cuts across the nine departments of the National Assembly. The second one is going to be specialised training.”
Mr. Yahaya said that all the proposed training would hold before the end of the year.
