National Council on Establishments calls for strengthening of civil service

The ongoing 44th meeting of the National Council on Establishments (NCE), in Yola, Adamawa state capital is aimed at strengthening the civil service to enable it meet its objectives and properly play its role in the development of Nigeria.

 

This was made known by the Permanent Secretary, office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Mr Okokon Udo, while appreciating the Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri for hosting the meeting in a conducive atmosphere for the delegates.

 

“This is not only an indication of his recognition of the relevance of the National Council on Establishments, but also an obvious demonstration of the high value that His Excellency places on the well-being of the Nigerian workers in particular and the Public Service at large,” Mr. Udo said.

 

He said delegates were drawn from 36 state of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to determine establishments of related matters of common interests.

 

“After this meeting we are going to submit our reports to the ministerial session, chaired by the Head of service of the federation”, he said.

 

According to him, the session will consider all the memorandum submitted to the council for uniform decisions and implementation.

 

Mr Udo charged delegates to embark on culture change/value re-orientation, raise the bar on performance and productivity, be more innovative and imbibe the global best practices.

He re-emphasized that the present Federal Civil Service, led by Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Folashade Yemi-Esan, is focusing on transforming the Service to attain a world-class status.

 

In his remarks, Mr Edgar Emos, Adamawa State Head of service, said that the meeting was important to deliberate on issues that affect the civil service in the country, calling for interest groups to submit their memorandum.

 

He assured them of all necessary support for successful deliberations.
