The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN has announced that efforts to fully recover the Power outage experienced by Nigerians on Monday, 14th October, 2024 is ongoing.
In a statement issued and signed by TCN’s General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, who disclosed that the national grid experienced a partial disturbance at 6:48 pm, said the grid’s recovery commenced immediately.
According to her, with the Azura power station located in Edo State, southern Nigeria, providing the black start, the grid recovery reached advanced stages at about 10.24 am, today 15th October when it encountered a challenge that caused a slight setback in the recovery process.
She explained that TCN continued with the grid recovery process, which has advanced, ensuring bulk power availability to about 90% of its substations nationwide.
“Supply has been restored to the Abuja axis and other major distribution load centers nationwide”.
“The partial disturbance did not affect the Ibom Gas generating station which was islanded from the grid yesterday, and continued to supply areas in the Southern part of the country such as Eket, Ekim, Uyo and Itu 132kV transmission Substations during the period”.
She added that an investigation into the cause of the incident will be carried out as soon as the grid is fully restored.
Recalls that the national grid collapsed on Monday, October 14, plunging the entire nation into a blackout.
Reports also stated that places like Deidei, Suleja, Lugbe, Kuje and other areas have their light restored on Tuesday at about 5:15 am.
