The National Hajj Commsion of Nigeria has appointed Dr Rabi’u Abdullahi Kontagora as the new Secretary of the Commission.
A statement signed by NAHCON Head of Public affairs Fatima Sanda usara, said the new secretary was selected after a rigorous screening of 448 candidates handled by an independent group of consultants.
Dr Kontagora an indigene of Niger state, holds a Masters and Phd in International Relations from University of Abuja in Nigeria.
He has authored several books and academic papers among which are Manners and Morals During and After Hajj; Hajj Administration and Planning in Nigeria: A Case Study of FCT Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.
The statement added that Dr Rabi’u Kontagora who speaks Hausa, English and Arabic languages, had served in the FCT/Muslim Pilgrims’ Welfare Board in various capacities from 1995 to date.
NAHCON’s mandate is to licence, regulate, supervise and perform oversight functions on Hajj and Umrah activities in Nigeria.
