National Integration: Christian Cleric urges Nigerians to embrace dialogue

A Christian Cleric in Nigeria and the Executive Director Lux Terra Leadership Foundation, Reverend George Ehusani has called on Nigerians to embrace dialogue for national integration
He stated this during a town hall meeting to mark the 2021 World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
According to the Cleric, dialogue is a tool for resolving all forms of disputes and misunderstandings among communities and groups for development to thrive in the country.
He said, “If we have ever needed dialogue is now. The essence of dialogue is I talk you listen, you talk I listen which will bring understanding.
By listening to one another mean we have commonality to identify our challenges.” Ehusani noted.
While identifying criticism as critical to nation-building, RR Ehusani warned against a provocative statement from Nigerians irrespective of class and status.
A panellist Dr Adegoke Adegoroye in a contribution said, “Diversities of cultures and languages brings intergenerational stability, unity and economic growth”, urging Nigerians to explore venues for peacebuilding.
In her contributions, Mrs Hauwa Abbas Founder of Silver for the Needy advocated for the need to using community and religious leaders for Cultural and moral reinvigoration.
Another Panelist Mrs Uju Obuekwe Co-founder of Platform Branding Company blamed Nigeria’s current lack of unity on colonial masters who introduced divide and rule strategy in governance.
She urged Nigerians to have genuine and conscious efforts to dialogue for peace and development.
The World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development is an occasion to promote culture and highlights the significance of its diversity as an agent of inclusion and positive change.
It is also to celebrate not only the richness of the world’s culture but also the essential role of dialogue for achieving peace and sustainable development.
With the theme ‘National Integration and the imperative of Dialogue’, Reverend Father Ehusani, identified dialogue as the best instrument through which unresolved issues hampering peace and cultural coexistence in the country.
The Town Hall meeting marking the World Dialogue Day celebration was also attended by participants from the media.
