The National Mosque, in collaboration with the Federal Government Public Servant Forum, has hosted its inaugural National Iftar and Leadership Colloquium to promote ethical leadership, national unity, and value-driven public service.
The programme featured the breaking of the fast (Iftar) and a leadership discussion, providing an opportunity for participants to reflect on the ethical foundations of governance, national development, and the role of spiritual guidance in public service.
The gathering was held under the spiritual leadership of the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Dr Sa’ad Abubakar III. Although the Sultan was unable to attend due to prior commitments, he was represented by the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Dr Ado Bayero, and the Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar.

Their participation underscored the importance of collaboration between religious institutions and the nation’s civil service in fostering moral values, national cohesion, and responsible leadership.
Among the dignitaries present were the Director-General of Voice of Nigeria (VON), Mallam Jibrin Baba Ndace, and the Head of Digital Media at VON, Dr Kassim Akinreti, reflecting the media’s role in promoting dialogue, national development, and positive national narratives.

Also in attendance were Alhaji Mojeed, former Editor-in-Chief of The Punch newspaper, Dr Khaleed of Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), alongside other Islamic clerics and distinguished Nigerians from various sectors.
Participants described the initiative as a meaningful step towards strengthening integrity, unity, and collective responsibility in nation-building.

The event concluded with prayers for peace, unity, and continued progress for Nigeria.
