The National Population Commission (NPC) has held the Second Pretest Census in one hundred and forty-eight Local Government Areas across the thirty-six states and the country’s Federal Capital Abuja Nigeria, as plans to commence the first electronic National Population and Housing Census in the country.
The NPC whose mandate is to conduct a national census said that the Pre-Test exercise is a critical part of the preparatory process which provides the opportunity to test all aspects of the census programme and instruments ahead of the main exercise to ensure the smooth operation and success of the exercise.
The State Coordinator of the Pre-test Census in Plateau State Northcentral Nigeria, Mr Usman Okutepa Galadima who is the Deputy Director in the Census Department of the National Population Commission said that the Pre-test Census Exercise held in four Local Government Areas of Plateau State, which include Kanam, Kanke, Jos North and Riyom.
Mr Galadima said that Nigeria would hold the census using electronic gadgets to capture enumerated areas and collect data from the people living in those areas where the exercise took place adding that he was impressed with the progress made during exercise especially during the collection of information and data by the enumerators in those four local government Areas in Plateau State.
The State Coordinator commended the team of the enumerators, supervisors, all who are involved during the Second Pre-Test and the people of the State for their support.
