The Commander of the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Major General Kevin Aligbe, has urged both Muslim and Christian communities within the barracks and beyond to remain steadfast in prayer and reflection, seeking spiritual cleansing and upliftment.
He made this statement while hosting an Iftar and Lenten breaking of fast with officers, the barracks community, and the Niger State Security Council in Minna, the state capital.
According to Major General Aligbe, the fasting period is a time for deeper reflection, selflessness, and national unity.
“We must give more to society. This is also a period in which we must pray for our country. We must pray for those in positions of leadership—from the presidency to governors, ministers, members of the armed forces, and their leadership, including service chiefs and everyone in leadership positions across the country.
“Whether or not you are politically aligned with them is immaterial. The fact remains that they are in positions of leadership, and if they do not succeed, we will all be affected. However, if we pray for them and actively support them, their job will become easier, allowing them to achieve what they have undertaken on our behalf. At moments like this, we owe it to them.”
He further emphasised the need to support the families of security personnel deployed in remote areas, acknowledging their sacrifices in ensuring national security.
“For those of us at home, we have a responsibility to support the families of those in the field. By making ourselves available to them, we can ensure that they do not feel the absence of their loved ones too deeply. If we all take on this responsibility, we will receive blessings, and our country will become a better place.”
The Major General also expressed gratitude to the government and people of Niger State for their hospitality and assured them of continued efforts to enhance security in the state and across the nation.
Speaking earlier, the Director of Training at TRADOC, Brigadier General Danjuma Dantani, commended the Commander for his leadership and commitment to unity.
“Beyond physical abstinence from food and drink, this is a time for prayers, charity, and self-improvement—principles that both faiths uphold. Let this occasion serve as a reminder that our diversity is a source of strength and that our shared commitments make the barracks community even stronger,” he said.
Brigadier General Danjuma Dantani also extended his appreciation to the TRADOC Commander for his financial and moral support in fostering unity among members of both faiths.
The Iftar and Lenten gathering served as a symbol of interfaith harmony, reinforcing the values of tolerance, respect, and love for one another in the pursuit of a more united and prosperous nation.
