National Youth Service Corps pledges Transparency, Accountability

The Director General of National Youth Service Corps in Nigeria, Brigadier General Muhammad Kaku Fadah has said the NYSC scheme is committed to transparency and accountability in its procurement process.

The Director-General stated this in Abuja, the nation’s capital at the opening of the Government Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS ) workshop for Procurement Officers in NYSC.

The Director General added that the NYSC keyed into the GIFMIS platform which was designed by the Federal Government to tackle corruption and weak governance and also to strengthen economic management.

“It would interest you to note that the choice of the theme for this training was no doubt, carefully chosen while taking into cognisance the current realities.

It is also with a view to realize the noble objectives behind the philosophy of setting up the GIFMIS module for prudent in doing government business, the DG reiterated.

General Fadah urged the workshop participants to key into the Information Technology (IT) based system that was designed for accounting and budget management to acquire new skills and knowledge that would improve their productivity and efficiency in handling their job schedules.

The GIFMIS which kicked off in 2012, is one of the economic reforms of the Federal Government which provides a foundation upon which different Public Financial Management reforms will be anchored.

The workshop with the theme; “Capacity Building Workshop on GIFMIS Procurement Module and Functionalities,” was organised by the Scheme for Procurement Officers in NYSC.
