The National Secretariat of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has rejoiced with its Christian members on the occasion of the 2022 Easter celebration.
In a statement, the National Secretary of the Association, Helen Udofa, noted that the Easter Season represents one of the most important events in the Christian calendar, as it reminds Christians of the death, triumphant resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ.
The statement says the Easter season is also a reminder of the exemplary life of love for mankind, forgiveness, selfless service, and ultimate sacrifice, which Jesus Christ demonstrated.
Udofa encouraged Christians in Nigeria, as they join other faithful across the world to celebrate the 2022 Easter, to see the need to rekindle the spirit of selfless service to the nation, peaceful coexistence, love for one another, forgiveness and hope for a strong, peaceful and united Nigeria.
She affirmed the need to have faith that just as Jesus Christ died and resurrected from the darkness of the grave, which is celebrated at Easter, Nigeria would also emerge from the dark alley of economic downturn and security challenges.
The statement reads in part:
“Nigerians should endeavour to tolerate one another, irrespective of ethnic or religious differences, and forge a common front towards defeating all forms of criminal activities, gender based violence, economic hardship that pose serious threats to the nation.
“They should emulate Jesus Christ by making sacrifices that would advance the cause of national development.
“Finally, may the resurrection power that raised Jesus from the dead and rolled away the stone from the tomb, breathe new life into every dead situation of your lives and roll away every form of hindrances on your way to breakthrough, progress and give you all a fresh breath of life. May it also quicken your mortal body to bring forth fruits that will glorify God and benefit humanity. Amen.”
