NCCSALW DG highlights importance of partnerships with DICON

The Director General of the National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NCCSALW), retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police Johnson Babatunde Kokumo has highlighted the importance of strategic partnerships in addressing Nigeria’s security challenges especially in curbing the proliferation of small arms and light weapons in Nigeria.

DIG Kokumo stated this when the Director General of the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON), Major General AE Edet paid a courtesy visit to the Headquarters, National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons, in Abuja Nigeria’s capital.
“The work we do at the Centre aligns closely with DICON’s efforts in arms production and a collaboration between our two organizations will significantly boost our collective efforts in promoting peace and security across the nation.”

In a statement by the Director, Strategic Communications and Information NCCSALW, Group Captain Pius Okwuego, Major General AE Edet, in response, expressed his appreciation for the warm reception and reiterated DICON’s commitment to supporting NCCSALW’s mission.

He emphasized the need for joint efforts to combat the illicit trade of arms, which poses a major threat to Nigeria’s security landscape.
