NCF Redeploys, Appoints Coaches Into Various National Team Positions
The Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF), has redeployed and appointed new coaches into the National team set up of the country in both Male and Female capacity, following the resignation of Asanka Gurusinha.
Gurusinha resigned from his role as Head Coach and High-performance Manager of the Nigeria Cricket Federation in April 2022. The Federation reshuffled the coaching staff to engage indigenous coaches to fill the various positions.
The most notable engagement is the appointment of the National Under-19 coaches, which sees former National Women Team Manager Obo Omoigui as head coach, to be assisted by Daniel Gim.
Uthe Ogbimi returns as senior Men’s Coach to be assisted by Tamuno John Harry, while Leke Oyede resumes the role as Senior Women’s team coach to be assisted by Ibodeme Theophilus.
Immediate past National Women’s Coach, Onome Oghenekevwe, will take up a new role as National Under-19 Women’s coach. She will be assisted by Yusuf Awobola and Azuka Nwojiobi.
All appointments and redeployments is effective immediately and serviced for a period of 6 months.
Nigeria Cricket Federation Releases List for Senior Men’s team
The Nigeria Cricket Federation also released a list of 24 players selected for the Senior Men’s team, ahead of the various international competitions slated for 2022.
The NCF invited 36 players for the senior Men’s trial in Lagos and some of these players were selected from the team. The series of trial matches ran between 19th -24th April, 2022.
