The Chairman Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Dr. Abike Dabiri-Erewa says the 7th Nigeria Diaspora Investment Summit, (NDIS), will focus on key sectors that are pivotal to driving investment and fostering growth in Nigeria, including Finance, ICT, Fintech, Creative Industries, Sports and Entertainment, Agribusiness, Healthcare, Education, Real Estate and Infrastructure, as well as Manufacturing and Mining.

Dr. Dabiri-Erewa made this known at a press briefing in Abuja, Nigeria, ahead of the 2024 Nigeria Diaspora Summit Initiative (NDSI) with the theme: New Vistas, New Aspirations, New Visions: The Diaspora and National Development.

She said that the NDSI highlights continuous commitment to unlocking new opportunities for Nigeria’s development through Diaspora engagement.

“It is becoming increasingly clear that the Nigerian Diaspora holds a unique position that enables them to contribute significantly to the nation’s development.  Given the current socio-economic challenges and the relentless effort of the current administration, the diaspora’s involvement is not just beneficial; it is essential, especially in boosting investment prospects and sustainable development in the country and that is why this Summit is apt.” She said.

Launched in 2018, Dr. Dabiri-Erewa added that the Summit has contributed to job creation, innovation, and the diversification of Nigeria’s economic base.

“Many of these businesses are in sectors such as agriculture, technology, healthcare, manufacturing, and renewable energy, all of which have significant potential to generate sustainable growth. This direct engagement by the diaspora has not only infused much-needed capital into the local economy but has also brought in new skills, knowledge, and global best practices that have strengthened the capacity of local enterprises to compete on a larger scale.” She stated.

Highlighting pass success stories from previous editions of the summit, Dr. Dabiri-Erewa appreciated sponsors, partners and the media for their role in driving past successes of NDIS, while adding that the NDIS is committed to continually build upon its past achievements.

She urged the public to be part of this year’s Summit by registering via the website at ndisng.com, with a promise that the summit will be exceptional, featuring insightful discussions, networking opportunities, and actionable strategies to harness the potential of the Nigerian Diaspora.

The event is scheduled to take place at the State House Conference Hall from November 5th to 7th, 2024, with Nigeria’s foremost businessman Alhaji Aliko Dangote as Guest Speaker and Mr. John Olajide delivering the keynote address.
