The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested one suspected Indian hemp farmer in Sokoto state.
NDLEA State Commandant, Mr. Iro Adamu, disclosed the development while briefing journalists in his office in Sokoto.
Iro Adamu said the suspect, Anas Sani, was arrested at Sanyinna village in Tambuwal local government area of the state.
He said the suspect planted a foreign variety of cannabis sativa in his maize farm, which was uprooted by the operatives of NDLEA who stormed the farm.
“It is surprising because only expert could understand what it is. This was the first time ever in history that such arrest was made in the state. It was a foreign variety which is very effective and costly,” he said.
