NDLEA, Kwara Govt flag off drug testing policy for tertiary institutions

The Kwara State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), in collaboration with the Kwara State Government has flagged off the Drug Testing Policy for tertiary institutions in the State.

The ceremony, which took place at the CVA, Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, was attended by top government officials, Royal Fathers and officers and men of the agency in the state.

The State Governor,  represented by the Commissioner for Tertiary Institutions, Dr. Mary Ayinde, declared the program open.

The Chairman/ Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohammed Buba Marwa (Rtd), was represented by Deputy Director Drug Demand Reduction NDLEA Headquarters Abuja Ibrahim Muhammed Bashir, who commended KWASU for being the first institution in Kwara State and the second nationwide to host the exercise.

The State Commander of the NDLEA Kwara State Command, Fatima Abiola Popoola, delivered a lecture on the integrity drug test and the negative effects of drug usage.

She emphasized the importance of the drug testing policy in promoting a healthy and drug-free lifestyle among students.

Other dignitaries, including the Vice-Chancellor of KWASU, Prof. Sheik Luqman, the Special Assistant on Drugs, Prevention, and Control,  Mikhail Aileru and the Special Assistant on Students Affairs, Salami Wasiu also spoke at the event.

“The flag-off ceremony marked the beginning of a new era in the fight against drug abuse in tertiary institutions in the state.”

With this development, the NDLEA and the State Government have demonstrated their commitment to promoting a drug-free society, an initiative that is a significant step towards achieving that goal.

The success of the flag-off ceremony is also  a testament to the strong partnership between the NDLEA, the Kwara State Government, and tertiary institutions in the State.

The event was well-attended, and the dignitaries who spoke at the event emphasized the importance of collective efforts in promoting a healthy and drug-free lifestyle among students.
