The Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) and the Benue State Digital Infrastructure Company (BDIC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen their cooperation on privacy and data protection in Benue State after a strategic meeting.
He said that digital technologies are crucial for development and praised BDIC for putting data protection and privacy first.
He also noted that digital identity is a key component of digital technologies and must be protected using best practices.
He concluded by noting that the MoU will be a force in fostering data protection and privacy in Benue State by raising awareness, creating jobs, and creating a compliance culture in the state.
The Benue State Commissioner for Communications and Digital Economy, Mr Amande Kwaghbah, thanked Dr Olatunji for the prompt response to their request for collaboration with the Commission.
He noted that the state government has committed to training 40,000 staff, including local government employees, and is looking forward to hosting the NDPC training team.
A working team has been established between the NDPC and BDIC to implement the Memorandum of Understanding.
