The National Examinations Council (NECO), has blacklisted 14 examination centres in Ogun and Oyo states in south Western Nigeria, for various malpractices during the 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) for external candidates.
The Registrar of NECO, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi announced this on Friday while releasing the 2024 External examination results at the Council’s headquarters in Minna, Niger state.
Wushishi stated that seven supervisors were also blacklisted for aiding and abetting examination malpractices at the affected centres.
“Seven supervisors, two each from Oyo and Ogun states, and one each from Lagos, Cross River, and Ebonyi states were recommended for blacklisting due to poor supervision, lateness, and aiding and abetting malpractice during the examination,” he said.
He further disclosed that 14 examination centres; 10 in Ogun and four in Oyo states were blacklisted for their involvement in widespread malpractice across nine subjects.

Professor Wushishi said a total of 6,160 candidates were booked for various forms of malpractice, compared to 8,518 in 2023, reflecting a 27.7% reduction.
Regarding overall candidate performance, he revealed that 86,067 candidates registered for the examination, while 84,799 sat for it.
“The number of candidates who obtained five credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics, is 57,114, representing 67.35%,” he added.
