The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has alerted the public to a fraudulent message circulating online, which falsely claims that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the reopening of the student loan portal. The scam includes a link to a fake website: https://nelfund-student-loan-2025.po-rt-al.com/NELFUND.

In a statement issued on Monday by the Director of Strategic Communications, Mrs Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, NELFUND categorically disclaimed the message, warning that the website is fake, and the information it contains isfalse and misleading.

“The ONLY official portal for the NELFUND Student Loan Application is: https://nelf.gov.ng”, Oluwatuyi said.

NELFUND therefore urged the general public—especially students, parents, and guardians—not to click on unverified links or submit personal and financial details on suspicious websites.

“We urge the general public, especially students, parents, and guardians, to avoid clicking on unverified links and to never submit personal or financial information on suspicious websites,” Mrs Oluwatuyi added.

She emphasised that NELFUND remains committed to transparency, safety, and fairness in its loan application process and will always communicate official updates through its verified platforms.
