NEMA Commences Second Phrase Of Post Disaster Assessment

The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, has commenced the second phase of post-disaster assessment across 16 states in the country, aiming to collect data from communities affected by the 2024 flood.
The Director General of the Agency, Mrs Zubaida Umar who disclosed this in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital said that the assessment would be carried out in areas that were not covered in the first phase in collaboration with the States Emergency Management Agencies, the Nigerian Red Cross Society, and the International Organization for Migration.
She explained that the joint assessment is aimed at providing unified and accurate representation of the flood’s impact across the affected states.
The second phase of the assessment will cover Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Borno, Ekiti, Gombe, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Lagos, Ondo, Plateau, Sokoto, Yobe, Zamfara, and the Federal Capital Territory,Abuja.
It would be recalled that NEMA had established Emergency Operation Centre to focus on data collection for managing the 2024 flood disaster.
