The new National Chairman of the governing party in Nigeria, the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Adamu Abdullahi, has promised to lead the party into the 2023 General Election strong and united.

In his acceptance speech at the just concluded APC National Convention in Abuja, Senator Abdullahi said this where he was elected as the new National Chairman by consensus. Also, at the Convention, the APC National Executive members were elected.

He appealed to those who lost out in the election to show good fair play and unite with the new leadership to move the party forward.

“Let us show maturity and good sportsmanship and accept the outcome of this Convention with grace. Our party needs all hands on the steering wheel so that together we can steer the ship of state through the inclement weather of our divisive national politics to the promised land.” Sen. Adamu said.

He further appealed to party members to make efforts to resolve differences internally rather than blow them out of proportion.

“We need to commit to resolving our crisis within the confines of our party constitution. We must resist the temptation to blow every minor personal disagreement into a major party crisis.”

“It is time for us to do things differently. When we quarrel, we open our flanks to our rival political parties that are eager to exploit them for their own benefit,” Adamu added.

While promising to run an inclusive party, he committed to reconciling aggrieved members for the party to stay united during the 2023 General Election.

“Promise you here and now that we shall heal any wounds in our party; we shall effect a lasting reconciliation among our members. We shall go into the next general elections as a solid and united party.

“I offer my hands of friendship to all our members. I want to assure you that my colleagues and I will run an open door policy to all party members,” he said.

Adamu appealed to all APC members to renew their faith in this new crop of leaders.
