The Democratic Republic of Congo has confirmed a new case of the Ebola virus.

The virus was confirmed on Tuesday by the World Health Organization and is linked to the outbreak that killed almost three-and-a-half-thousand people in the region between 2018 and 2020.

A 46-year-old woman from the eastern province of North Kivu tested positive for the virus following her death on August 15th.

Officials are currently contact tracing 131 people, 60 of whom are front-line healthcare workers.

Meanwhile, 200 vaccines are being sent to the region in a bid to prevent the virus from spreading further.
