New Gmail Update to Improve Email Search Efficiency: Google

Google is rolling out a new update to Gmail aimed at improving the efficiency of email searches.

The company announced on Thursday that its AI capabilities will now take into account factors like recency, most-clicked emails, and frequent contacts when displaying search results, ensuring users can find the emails they need more quickly.

Previous Search Order and New Improvements

Prior to this update, Gmail organised search results solely in chronological order based on keywords.

The latest enhancement ensures that emails deemed more relevant to the user’s query appear at the top of the results.

“With this update, the emails you’re looking for are far more likely to be at the top of your search results — saving you valuable time and helping you find important information more easily,” the company explained in a blog post.

Toggle for Search Customisation

To accommodate user preferences, Google is introducing a new toggle feature. This allows individuals to switch between “Most relevant” emails (the default setting) and “Most recent” emails displayed in chronological order on the search results page, catering to varying user needs.

This AI-driven feature underscores Google’s commitment to optimising user experiences across its platforms.
