New Kwara CP pledges to discharge his duties honourably

The newly posted Commissioner of Police in Kwara state, Mr Amienbo Tuesday Assayomo, has assured that he would not succumb to any pressure from any politician or political party in the state that will prompt him to act unprofessionally in the discharge of his police duties .

He also assured of his unbias in carrying out his responsibilities or taking far reaching decisions.

Speaking during his maiden news conference at the police headquarters in Ilorin, Mr Assayomo promised to work in accordance with the laid down rules and regulations of the force and respect human rights policies where nobody is oppressed or denied his or her rights. He appealed to the citizens to be law abiding.

According to him, he has set up a vibrant team to tackle issues of kidnapping, cultism and cybercrime which he said would all be a thing of the past.

The police boss solicited for the support of traditional rulers in reducing crime rate to the bearest minimum.

Assayomo disclosed that he would work hand in hand with organised vigilante groups and other non-state actors, to leverage community policing principles in combating crimes in the state.

He assured the good people of Kwara State that they have no reason to fear, panic or be threatened.

“The police under my watch and control are aware and are sufficiently briefed on my zero tolerance for indiscipline and negligence and warned that any policeman found in any unprofessional like conduct would be severely dealth with” he cautioned.

“I wish to assure the good people of Kwara State of my determination to put into maximum use all strategies that will help me in achieving this onerous objective”.

“I want to use this rare opportunity to solicit for the support of all and sundry, especially, the traditional institutions, religious organizations, Civil Society organizations, student bodies, professional bodies and members of the security community in the State in achieving this objective so that law abiding citizens of Kwara State can sleep at night with their two eyes closed. The Command under my watch will operate an open-door policy, we shall be simple but firm in our attitude towards good service delivery to our people” he assured.

The police boss promised sister security agencies of his readiness, as a team player to work collectively with them to consolidate the achievements recorded in the state before his  posting and to also make the state uncomfortable, especially for kidnappers, cultists, fraud operatives and all other forms of vices and anti-social behaviours.
