New Nigerian series debuts on Prime Video ‘Grind’
The Tunani Productions has debuted its Prime Video titled ‘Grind’ on 20th of January 2023.
The show follows the life of Tarela who in a bid to survive turns to stripping in a Lagos nightclub. We see the lives of the girls she meets at the club and the struggles of keeping dreams alive. This series was created by Roberta Orioma, directed by Orire Nwani and produced by Josh Olaoluwa. The Clan Production Studios was the production management company for the project.
Talking about the show, Roberta who also served as co-producer said “we created a story with very relatable characters, that audiences can connect with and root for.”
The series also stars Roberta in lead roles alongside Roseanne Chikwnedu, Uzor Arukwe, Eso Dike, Daniel Abua, Chris Iheuwa, Steve Enagbare, Harriet Akinola, and introduces Tamara Sindio-Apaun and Oluedo Blessing Tochi in supporting roles.
On directing the series, Orire Nwani said; “We spent weeks just going to strip clubs, observing and learning from the world. We also had the female leads register for pole dance classes because I wanted to be as accurate as possible in interpreting this beautiful script the writers had written.”
Grind launches exclusively on Prime Video on 20th January, 2023 with its first 3 episodes, the rest episodes to be spread weekly over the following weeks.
On what fans can expect from the show, executive producer Roberta Orioma says, “We spent a lot of time developing the story, and the audience will connect deeply with the characters and their struggles for a better life. These characters are real to me, I understand and feel their pain and the audience will too.”
The first three episodes of ‘Grind’ are now available on Prime Video in all English Speaking Countries. The rest of the episodes will drop weekly over the following weeks.
