New Operation Procedure Saves FCTA Millions On Staff Training
Authority of the Nigerian Federal Capital Territory Administration says the introduction of Standard Operation Procedure (SOP), has greatly saved the administration from spending huge some of money in Staff training annually.
Dr Jumai who disclosed this to Journalists in Abuja maintained that before the establishment of the Department and introduction of Standard Operation Procedure, FCT usually spent not less than hundred million naira on staff training both newly employed and the existing staff.
While noting that without Standard Operating Procedure, the ongoing federal government performance system would not be achieved, Dr. Jumai added that seventy staff across agencies and department of the FCT Administration have been trained to inturn train other staff.
She further maintained that the department has also completed pilot Standard Operation Procedure for fifteen departments while three departments are in the pipeline.
Dr. Amadu revealed further that within the shortest time the department is brought to existence, other states of the federal are now under studying operations in the department to help them set up similar department in Lagos and others.
While giving details of activities of the department, Dr. Jumai noted that Reform Coordination and Service Improvement Department, received over one hundred thousand calls from the residents to log in their complaints over service providing agencies of government and private establishments within the territory.
She added that out of such one hundred thousand only forty thousand calls directly borders on service providing agencies of the FCT Administration.
In breakdown on the calls, the Abuja Environmental Protection Board topped the list, followed by water board on complaints, the borders on refuse disposals environment and burst water pipe or water related issues.
She further explained that the fire service took third place as well as demolition of illegal structures.
The Director also explained that the construction of public toilets in the territory aiming at nipping the problem of open defication under the Coordination of Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency of the FCTA was contracted to private individual and establishments to construct and manage.
Jumai hinted that the National Assembly having gotten right information about the project was happy about the initiative for having such project out of budgetary provisions of the administration.
On the challenges facing the department the Director noted that ability to convince staff in short time and limited resources were parts of limitations to the department achievement in 2022.
