New Orleans loses power due to Hurricane Ida
New Orleans, the biggest one in southern U.S. state Louisiana, is now without power due to powerful Hurricane Ida made a landfall in the state earlier on Sunday.
According to the official, a Category 4 storm, hit on the same date Hurricane Katrina, a Category 3 storm, ravaged the southern states of Louisiana and Mississippi 16 years earlier.
At least one person died after being injured by a fallen tree in the New Orleans suburb of Prairieville.
“If anyone in the parish has power, it is coming from a generator, New Orleans’ emergency preparedness campaign.”
Across the coastal state, nearly 790,000 customers have lost power after Ida’s landfall, according to the tracking website poweroutage.us.
