The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has announced that it has received 23, 871 new Permanent Voter’s Cards, PVCs, from the National Headquarters of the Commission, Abuja.
A statement from the commission in Gombe state, says the cards were for those who registered new cards or information update, transfer or replacement of lost/damaged PVCs during the first and second quarter of the on- going Continuous Voters Registration, CVR.
It called on those who registered or requested for replacement of their PVCs from registrations done from June 28 to December 20, 2021.
The statement is urging people in that category to visit the INEC LGA Office, where their Polling Units are domiciled to collect their PVCs from Thursday, 21st April 2022.
Similarly, the statement said all those who registered between January and March 2022 as well as those registering to note that their PVCs would be ready for collection before the 2023 General Elections.
INEC therefore called on all eligible registrants who were 18 years and above but arwere yet to register to do so, while also calling on those who wish to transfer, request for information update or replacement of lost/damaged PVC to take advantage of the last quarter of the CVR which will end on 30h June, 2022.
“Existing voters are to also note that it is a crime to register afresh as that will constitute multiple registration which is punishable by law,” the statement said.
