In an effort to celebrate the New year in a traffic free and lesser road crashes, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kaduna Sector Command has deployed about 1,214 personnel and 535 special marshals, 29 patrol vehicles and seven power bikes across Kaduna state.
The Kaduna Sector Commander of the FRSC, Hafiz Muhammed, disclosed this at an awareness campaign organised for drivers at the popular Kawo Park in Kaduna.
Muhammed, represented by the Head of Operations, Kaduna Sector Command, DCC Frederick Ogidan said, the effort was made towards ensuring sanity in Kaduna metropolis and the highway during the new year celebrations.
Muhammed noted that the equipments and personnel have been distributed and situated along designated routes as part of measures towards ensuring hitch-free yuletide celebrations.
“This exercise, which is pursuant to the Corps 2021 strategic goals of reducing road traffic crashes by 15% and fatalities by 20% is also designed to address the perennial rise in vehicular movement and the violation of traffic rules and regulations.
“Consequent upon this, we have carried out massive deployment of personnel and logistics along critical flash points and road diversions such as Maraban Isa, Audu Jongwan, Audu Ogbe Farm along Kaduna-Abuja road, and Rigachikun Bridge, Birnin Yero, Kwanan Farakwai, and Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic along the Kaduna-Zaria highway”.
He further noted that the exercise also witnessed setting of traffic control and rescue camps especialy at Kwanan Farakwai and Dunbin Rauga by officers and men of the State Command.
Muhammed explained that the awareness campaign was aimed at educating motoring public on the need to ensure safety on the roads especially during new year which is characterized by massive movement of people across the entire nation.
He warned motorists to ensure strict compliance with traffic rules and regulations while maintaining regular vehicle maintenance and being in sound state of health and mind.
