New Year: NGO improves lives of indigent in Ebonyi

A Non Government Organisation, NGO known as Ebele and Anyi Chucks foundation has distributed about 15,000  bags of rice and other cash donations to indigents in the 13 Local Government Area of  Ebonyi.

The founder of the NGO, Dr Ifanyi-Chukwuma Odii stated this while addressing the Journalists on his fifteenth edition of the foundation’s annual giveaway ceremony in his home, Isu Onicha Local Government Area of the State.

Housing Units
Dr Odii said apart from those gifts, 77 housing units which include six church buildings and  a palace for a traditional ruler in Isu Community, Onicha Local Government Area of the State are ready to be commissioned and to be given away to the indigent owners.

“We are doing this, not because of any political ambition, but for the service of God and humanities that the name of God will be glorified.

“We saw that our people were suffering and we decided to fill in the large gap between the poor and the rich,” he said.

The philanthropist said he was moved by the fact that majority in the State are very poor, hence the empowerment.

The senator representing Ebonyi north zone, Mr Obinna Ogba attributed Mr Odii’s gesture as service to God and humanities.

Also the senator representing Ebonyi South Zone, Senator  Ama Nnachi extolled him and encouraged him to continue in his good works.

The State coordinator of Ebele and Anyi Chucks foundation in Ebonyi State, Comrade Christian  Ogbonnaya-Onu  said that the NGO has touched lives in all ramifications, which include giving shelters to the indigent ones in the society, paying medical bills to those who cannot afford it and assisting widows in both material and cash donations.

“Youth have also been empowered in various ways to make their lives meaningful, Ebele and Anyi Chucks foundation is out and determined to ensure that poverty is alleviated in Ebonyi State,” he said.

Mr Onu said the foundation is worthy of emulation.

The Spokes person to the foundation, Mr Pasona Stanley appreciated the efforts of Ifeanyi-Chukwuma Odii in reaching out to the less privileged in the society.

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Ogechi Ibiam thanked the foundation for remembering them in this time of hardship in the country.

She prayed God almighty to protect and guide the founder.
