NFF To Construct Mini Stadium In Nasarawa State

Nigeria Football Federation President, Ibrahim Gusau said that a mini stadium will soon be constructed to boost the sports activities in Akwanga the Northern region of Nasarawa State.

Gusau stated this at the maiden Edition of Silas Agara finals of the Nasarawa North Zonal Football Competition between Future International Football Club of Wamba and Akwanga Selected Football Club.

He said the commissioning of a mini-stadium, in Akwanga would signal a milestone in the region’s sports infrastructure development.

“It was part of my mandate to encourage grassroots football across the country, commending Silas Agara for Organising such a competition to engage youth in sporting activities, especially football”.

“We have received unwavering support from the governor of Nasarawa state in our football development endeavors. As a testament to this, we are pleased to announce the impending commissioning of a mini-stadium in Akwanga,” Gusau stated.

Speaking, the Nasarawa state Commissioner for Sports, Jafaru Ango, affirmed that the state government has commenced work on the mini-stadium over the past three months. However, the approval for the land on which the stadium will be erected is pending.

The Finals of the First Edition of Silas Agara Nasarawa North Zonal Football Competition 2024 between Future International Football Club of Wamba and Akwanga Selected Football Club attracted many football lovers across the region.

It was a goalless ninety minutes, as the encounter went straight to penalty kick when Future International FC defeated Akwanga Selected FC 5-4 to emerge champions of the tournament.

The champions, Future International FC, are set to receive N680,000 in prize money, while the runners-up, Akwanga Selected, will pocket N420,000.

Additionally, the bronze-winning team, Leopard Academy, also from Akwanga, will be awarded N250,000.

Salim Bashir and Godwin Theophilius, both of Futurinternationalsal won the highest goal scorer with 11 goals and the Most Valuable Player in the competition.

Also speaking, the tournament sponsor, Honourable Silas Agara, expressed his commitment to making the competition an annual event.

He also announced plans to select a team from the tournament to participate in the Nigeria Nationwide League (NLO) next season.

Agara further said the development marks a significant stride in the promotion of football and sports development within Nasarawa state and underscores the dedication to nurturing sporting talent in the region.
