NFSS Commends President Tinubu for Approving Arms for Forest Guards

President Bola Tinubu has been commended for approving the nationwide arming of the Forest Security Service, a move seen as part of a renewed security strategy to curb the rising cases of banditry, kidnapping, and illegal mining across the country.

The Commandant General of the Nigeria Forest Security Service NFSS, Ambassador Joshua Wole gave the commendation while briefing journalists in Abuja ahead of this year’s Christmas celebration.

Ambassador Wole remarked that the measure was necessary following the scale and complexity of security threats across the country which required a more decentralised and better equipped security arctecture.

The Arm will enable us to function effectively as we serve as frontline respondents in safeguarding Forests and remote corridors that serves as safe routes for the criminal groups, ” he noted.

The NFSS boss wishes Christians a happy Christmas celebration and assured them of safe Christmas and New Year celebrations saying that those that wishes to travel should feel free to do so as adequate security measures have been put in place.

He noted that he has deployed thousands of his men to various strategic locations in the forest being used as window and channel by the criminals to pepertrate their evil act.

We are trained specifically on how to handle security situations in the forest and we have vowed to flushout criminals disturbing innocent Nigerians through the forest corridors. All we need is just government continued support for us to achieve our mandate effectively.” Ambassador Wole stated.

The commandant however solicited the cooperation of the public in providing necessary information that would assist them discharge their duties effectively and assured optimal synergy with other security agencies in the county.
