The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has expressed profound sadness over the sudden passing of His Excellency, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, who reportedly collapsed while in office on Thursday, 11th December 2025 and was later confirmed dead.
Deputy Governor Ewhrudjakpo was rushed from the Government House in Yenagoa to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), where medical personnel made efforts to save him, but he was pronounced dead shortly afterward.
Late Senator Ewhrudjakpo was widely regarded as a committed public servant whose dedication to good governance and the welfare of the people of Bayelsa State stood out throughout his years of service.
His career included legislative representation and executive leadership, where he played a significant role in shaping development strategies for the State.
In its statement, the Nigeria Governors’ Forum underscored that Ewhrudjakpo’s visionary leadership, unwavering commitment to social justice, and deep sense of responsibility will forever remain part of the legacy he leaves behind.

The Chairman of the Governors Forum, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, praised Senator Ewhrudjakpo’s character and contributions, stating that his “unwavering commitment to good governance, social justice, and the welfare of his people stood as a testament to his character and leadership.”
