A Non-Governmental Organization, the International Society of Media in Public Health (ISMPH) has urged the global community to embrace peace, noting that, “Peace is a collective effort. Let’s embrace peace.”
This is contained in a statement released on Wednesday by the group’s Executive Director and founder, Mrs Moji Makanjuola on the occasion of International Day of Peace.
“Peace begins with efforts from individuals and it is the way to protect our mental health in the midst of global wars and insecurity, which they said will affect the coming generation.
“Peace begins with each and every one of us. It translates to mental health for all of us. There is so much insecurity, strife and wars that do not augur well for the generations that will succeed us all.”
The Founder of the society and former President of the National Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, added that; “It is a duty upon everyone to maintain peace which she said will be of help to the mental disposition of everyone around us.
“We owe humanity a duty of peace to reign around us. A duty to achieve global peace by helping the mental disposition of all around us.”
She also queried everyone on the efforts they’re putting into promoting peace and mental health in the society, saying that peace is a collective effort.
“What are you doing to improve mental health around by bringing peace to our world? Peace is a collective effort. Let’s embrace peace as we celebrate another International Day of Peace,” Makanjuola added.
The International Day of Peace established in 1981 is observed on September 21 around the world.
The day is observed and has been devoted by the United Nations General Assembly to strengthening the ideals of peace, through observing 24 hours of non-violence and cease-fire.
