Mr Micheal Ezie, Founder of the NGO, on Thursday in Abuja, said the donation was done to commemorate the Easter celebration and to give hope to the less privileged in the community.

Ezie said that the organisation decided to make the donation to the community in line with the doctrine of Christianity, to extend love to the needy as well as preach hope and sacrifice, which characterise the Easter celebration.

“At the moment when our nation is struggling with inflation and high prices of food items, many families wallow in unprecedented hunger and go to bed hungry. We decided to come to this community to make an impact and to make them feel loved. From our previous visits to the community, we took our time to listen to their needs and observed that getting a normal one-square meal in a day is really a problem. Also, coupled with the issue of kidnappings and insecurity they face in the community, we decided to assist them in our own little way,” he said.

He said the organisation would continue to assist more indigent communities in the FCT, in line with its mandates of putting smiles on the faces of the less privileged in the society.

Mrs Hannatu Musa, a beneficiary of the donation, expressed gratitude to the organisation, adding that she had nothing left to eat in her home before the intervention from the group.

“I want to say a big thank you to this NGO; God will bless them and be with them. I have four children and we didn’t have anything in the house to eat and I have been wondering what my children will eat this night before these people came. I am very happy for this donation, as it can last us for one week and some days,” she said.

Other beneficiaries thanked the group for the timely intervention and prayed for its sustenance. They also appealed to other well-meaning Nigerians not to relent in rendering help to the underprivileged in the society.

The  items distributed include rice, spaghetti, noodles, vegetable oil, seasonings, drinks and cooked meals among others.
