NGO Educates Female Students on Inclusive Technology

Cybersafe, a Nigerian NGO, has raised awareness among female students about the importance of inclusive technology and innovation.

The founder, Confidence Staveley, said at the event in Lagos that 90 percent of attractive jobs in the next few years would be dependent on technology, hence the need to sensitise girls to technology and innovation.

March is Women’s History Month, a time to recognise and celebrate the contributions of women throughout history; while International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8.

According to Staveley, sensitising the girls to the importance of gender inclusion was necessary to bridge the skills gap and equip them with the social impact of technology.

She said it would enhance the critical thinking, creativity, innovation and multifaceted problem-solving capacity of the girls.

According to her, girls should challenge themselves to be the best in whatever they do, believe in themselves, find passion, and become solution providers.

”As a girl, you are capable of more than you think and more than the world has seen.

”Stay on a ruthless learning journey and decorate yourself with so much knowledge that your competence and value would be inconceivable.

”Believe in yourself and consistently put in the hard work. Leverage the help and resources, internship and boot camps now available to women,” she said.

According to her, girls should build portfolios to showcase their creativity, and skills and not play it safe but find a passionate area in tech that suits their desires. She also encouraged the girls to leverage social media in the right way.
