Over 100 vulnerable women have been empowered by a Non-Governmental Organisation in Azza Community of Lapai Local government area of Niger state in North Central Nigeria.
The women who were mostly farmers were selected across villages by the organisation.
The Chairman of the Organisation Idris Abubakar Idimub said the empowerment was done for the sole purpose of making the rural women self-dependent, productive and to improve their economic status to ameliorate the hardships in the rural communities.
“The assistance by the organisation to the rural Women is part of Our Social responsibility , and with time we are going to improve on the number of the beneficiaries across the Azza Communities, ” Alhaji Idimub stated.
The foundation has also given out cash, materials and scholarships to the less privileged in the institutions from the community.
Replicate the gesture
The Etsu Ebbo of Azza community, Alhaji Ndatsu Halilu who commended the gesture by the NGO called on other members of Azza community to replicate the gesture of the philanthropist.
One of the beneficiaries, Asabe Ibrahim who thanked the NGO on behalf of women from various communities that benefited, urged the elites and other businessmen in Azza community to create more chances for thousands of rural women and unemployed youths in the community.
