The Founder and Coordinator of BWI, Ms Chichi Ononiwu, said the exercise was meant to ameliorate the sufferings of the people.

The organisation gave free medical consultations, blood tests, vision checks, treatment and glasses, nutrition counselling and food items at no cost to beneficiaries.

Ononiwu advised beneficiaries to look up to God to give economic succour in the face of prevailing hardship.

“We encourage beneficiaries to explore alternative sources of protein for their families’ upkeep, especially for those who have to cater to little children,’’ she said.

She advised people of the community not to let the society and trends determine their ways of life, especially as regards economic sustenance.

She also advised against unhealthy competition in lifestyles as it had wrecked many people and led youths into money rituals, robbery and prostitution.

Ononiwu called on parents to closely monitor the lifestyles of their children and ask probing questions when their unemployed children and wards begin to display unearned income.

She also encouraged parents to endeavour to provide strong moral foundation, education and skills with which to build their children’s future.

In his admonition, a member of the medical team, Pastor Joseph Aliwo, advised beneficiaries to be aware of what they consume and avoid intake of salt and sugar as they could lead to illnesses.

He recommended vegetables, legumes; fruits and whole cereals which he said enhanced digestion and provide needed vitamins to keep ravaging diseases away.

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Bunmi Lawal, lauded the BWI Initiative for its kind gesture and prayed that God would continue to provide for and strengthen the NGO.
