She said the objectives of the meeting is to orient the stakeholders from the local government area on the seasonal malaria chemo prevention (SMC) project goal, target, objectives, and performance of the 2023 framework as the rainy season is fast approaching.

“Orientation of the LGA stakeholders on the 2023 SMC handbooks, strategies, guidelines, and tools which include mode of operation in 2023 is required”,
“Harmonization and shared understanding of SMC roll out in 2023 would be carried out”, Hajia Musa-Baba noted.

The ZPM also raised the issue of being digital during the cycles, where the community drugs distributors, (CDD) would go around administering the spa to eligible children.
The monitoring and Evaluation Officer, Mr. Zachariah Maleeks, dwelt on the criteria for the selection of personnel during the 2023 round.
He said that for a successful program, there should be micro planning where things that would be done during the program would be discussed.
“The micro-plan will be the framework for how SMC will be implemented in each targeted area of the country.
“An SMC micro plan should contain a detailed target population and
corresponding estimated resources at the smallest unit (communities) required for training of distribution personnel, adequate coverage, and safe administration of SMC drugs to eligible
children”, Maleeks added.

Issues were raised by the LGA stakeholders from the previous year and proper solutions were made to tackle such issues when they arise.
