NGO to support Nigeria’s fight against corruption

Non Governmental Organisations in Nigeria, say they will continue collaboration with Nigerian government in the fight against corruption, accountability and good governance.

Alhabibiyya Islamic society and Mambayya House Aminu Kano Centre for Democratic societies made the pledge at a signing of Memorandum of understanding MOU to undertake anti-corruption activities in Nigeria.

The signing of the MoU is part of the desire of the Organisations to encourage accountability and enhance good governance in Nigeria.

Signing the agreement to undertake anti corruption activities in Nigeria, Professor Ismail Mohammed on behalf of Mambayya House Aminu Kano Centre for Democratic societies said, the objective of the partnership was to work together on their areas of competence in carrying out anti corruption programmes.

He said they would also collaborate with religious leaders, Faith Based Organisations  and other Civil Society Organisations on projects and programs that would enhance transparency and accountability .

Professor Ismail Mohammed explained that the partnership between Mambayya House and Al-Habibiyyah would strengthen Nigerian government fight against corruption.

Director Alhabibiyya Islamic society of Nigeria an interfaith Organisation, Imam Fuad Adeyemi explained that Al-Habibiyyah is an Islamic think tank whose areas of activities cut across education, training  of  imams on anti-corruption crusade and Mosque projects as well as works as vanguard of Islamic propagation within and outside Nigeria.

Enhance Democracy
He said the collaboration would enhance Democracy and good values of Nigerians and beyond.

In their joint media statement, the two Oganisations said the broad aim of the partnership was to collectively undertake anti-corruption activities to enhance good governance and transparency in Nigeria.

The objectives of the partnership are to:

A) “Carry out functions under any agreed anti-corruption activities concentrating on the area of competence of each partner.

B) Undertake projects on good governance in Nigeria in areas of interest to either party in mutual trust.

C)  Collaborate with religious leaders, to work on programs that will enhance transparency and accountability and good governmence in Nigeria.”

Co executive Director interfaith mediation centre, James Movel said the anti corruption agreement between the two NGO’s was a milestone achievement to morality and political development in Nigeria.

The partnership between Mambayya House and Alhabibiyya Islamic society merged 3 years ago on combating corruption through interfaith platforms in Nigeria.
